Adidas Originals and BAPE Collaborate on Limited-Edition Sneakers and NFTs

[ad_1]

Apparel brands Adidas Originals and BAPE have come together for a special collaboration, unveiling a limited-edition sneaker called the Triple-White Forum 84 BAPE Low. The unique aspect of this collaboration is the inclusion of a “digital twin” NFT version of the sneakers that can potentially be worn in the metaverse.

The collaboration is supported by the Adidas /// Studio and will feature an auction format on the Adidas Collect platform. Just 100 Ethereum NFTs will be made available, and each NFT can be exchanged for one corresponding pair of sneakers.

The sneakers showcase BAPE’s iconography, with a shooting star motif on the lateral upper and the “A Bathing Ape” logo in metallic silver foil. Unlike previous camo iterations, the Triple-White colorway is inspired by a narrative of a “pristine laundrette in the heart of a mysterious desert.”

Each pair of sneakers is equipped with an NFC chip in the left tongue, allowing owners to access the NFT-based certificate of authenticity by scanning it with a smartphone. In addition to the physical shoes, owners will also receive a “digital twin” Ethereum NFT that can be used in Adidas’ ALTS avatar project, enabling them to wear the sneakers in the metaverse.

The auction for the Adidas Originals x BAPE “Fresh Forum” access pass NFT will take place from August 22 to August 25. Holders of Adidas ALT[er] Ego “Soles” and members of the BAPE: (B)APETAVERSE community will have a 10% premium added to their bidding price, giving them an advantage in the auction. Bidding starts at 0.3 ETH (about $550) with no maximum bid.

The 100 winners of the auction will be able to redeem their tokens for the physical sneakers and digital twin starting on September 26 via Adidas Collect, with shipping scheduled to begin in October.

This collaboration is part of the celebration of BAPE’s 30th anniversary, with previous releases including co-branded versions of the Forum Low featuring a camo motif.
